The Shenandoah Valley, of course! The song is obviously a pioneer's lament for the Shenandoah River Valley in Virginia as he is "bound away across the wide Missouri". The song's focus is on Shenandoah, NOT the Missouri River...

Clearly, the "topic" cited in the question was Shenandoah, yet the game-changing answer of "Missouri" was allowed resulting in a half-point deficit for Smolt! in the final score. Weez wuz screwed, no doubt about it!

"The Grinch" (2000) is the title of the abomination (hardly a Christmas "favorite"!) starring Jim Carrey, and has nothing to do with Dr. Seuss, Grinches, Mt.Crumpet, Whoville, or roast beasts. Ick.

Smolt! did not provided the title the quizmaster was seeking, but managed to eke out a 1/2 point victory, nevertheless.
12/10/07 Name the only year using Roman Numerals in descending numeric value. Smolt doesn't remember but it sure was "te sux".

(MDCLXVI = 1000 + 500 + 100 + 50 + 10 + 5 + 1 = 1666.) Smolt! was the only team to answer properly the question, what is the only date, since AD 1000, wherein the equivalent roman numerals descend in alphabetical order.

Because this question was phrase inexactly, credit was given to those less worthy, thus thwarting Smolt! deserved place in the sun. Two points would not have made a difference, but screwed nonetheless.

  1. Ali only fought George Foreman once and beat him in 8 rounds in one of the most famous fights of all time called "The rumble in the jungle."
  2. Ali NEVER was knocked out in the first round EVER. If anything, Ali could take a punch and almost always went the distance.
